Innovative information and communication technologies have been applied widely in behavioral and social science research and are likely to benefit biomedical and basic science research as well. New state-of-the-art systems can enhance data collection and facilitate health promotion among target populations that may not be reached easily otherwise. Health services research and clinical decision-making support tools based on electronic medical records can affect the quality of care. Issues related to ethics and data security are also important to consider in the use of these new technologies.
The goals of the conference will be to:
-
Advance attendees' awareness of and knowledge in applying innovative information and communication technology tools to HIV-related research; and
-
Provide a forum for presentation and discussion of multidisciplinary, cross-cutting methodologies from information and communication technologies in research and practice.
