As the HIV/AIDS epidemic increasingly devastates developing and/or impoverished nations, US-based scientists are turning their attention and lending their expertise to research efforts overseas. This one-day conference provided an overview of international research on behavioral/prevention interventions, treatment, and basic science based at Consortium institutions and Fogarty AIDS International Training and Research Programs (AITRPs) in partnership with researchers in countries around the world. Our goals are to enhance multidisciplinary collaborative research efforts among participating institutions in the NY area, to identify emerging international HIV research needs, and to exchange information about international training opportunities.
