The emergent influence and untapped potential of DLC research
summary
“Although the theoretical contributions of DLC research are notable, this body of work is yet to realise its full potential in terms of impact on criminal justice policy and practice. In this short commentary, I highlight the vital role of DLC researchers in shaping the policy discourse. I provide concrete examples of the contributions of DLC research to advancements in the criminal legal system as well as neglected areas of inquiry that may broaden the impact of DLC beyond individual-level crime prevention efforts. Many of these observations are inspired by the career of my late mentor, David Farrington, who always advocated for collaborative work between researchers, practitioners and policymakers” (p. 76).
