Mamuka Djibuti has more than 20 years of experience working in public health. Throughout his career, he has focused extensively on issues related to HIV/AIDS, TB, and health systems strengthening and has worked in about 30 countries in different regions including Caucasus, Eastern Europe, Central Asia, Middle East, South East Asia and Eastern Africa. Dr. Djibuti also possesses significant administrative experience in program planning and management, staff management and supervision, team facilitation, as well as grant administration.  Since 1995, Dr. Djibuti has been actively involved in academic work in public health by participating in number of national and international research projects, and publishing results of his research in international peer reviewed journals. From 2007 to 2015, Dr. Djibuti served as the Founding Dean of the Tbilisi State Medical University School of Public Health. Since 2007, Dr. Djibuti has also served as the Director and Co-Founder of the Partnership for Research and Action for Health, the not-for profit non-governmental organization registered in Georgia, with considerable experience of building public health training capacity at Georgian universities in cooperation with both national and international partners.

Dr. Djibuti is currently the principal investigator on two projects:
  1. To support the development of doctoral level HIV research training opportunities at leading universities in the Republic of Georgia.
  2.  To assess barriers for optimal tuberculosis case detection and to develop policy recommendations for improving TB case detection in Georgia.
