Assessing the Impact of Overdose Prevention Centers as a Polysubstance Use and Behavioral Health Intervention in New York City
Funded by: National Center for Injury Prevention and Control, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
Project dates: September 2023 - September 2026
Principal Investigator: Allen, Bennett
PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Polysubstance use and concomitant overdose are substantial public health issues, with over half of overdose deaths nationally involving multiple substances.

This study aims to address two key facets of overdose prevention centers:

  1. The capacity for overdose prevention centers to reduce overdose mortality and morbidity for this high-risk population, and
  2. The potential role of overdose prevention centers as a venue to address mental health needs of polysubstance-involved populations.
