Crisis Response, Durable Lessons: A Mixed Methods Examination of a Large-Scale Hoteling Intervention for People Experiencing Homelessness During the COVID-19 Pandemic
Funded by: National Institute on Drug Abuse
Project dates: August 2022 - June 2027
Principal Investigator: Doran, Kelly
PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The  study will use community-partnered, mixed methods research to examine substance use and related health impacts of moving homeless individuals to hotel rooms, leveraging a large natural experiment that occurred in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The research will inform future local and national programmatic and policy interventions to address the intersecting issues of homelessness and substance use, which is especially important as homelessness has reached crisis levels and is predicted to rise further in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
