Project dates: September 2019 - September 2024
Principal Investigator: Manuel, Jennifer
Co-Investigator: Hagan, Holly
PROJECT DESCRIPTION

This project will implement a multi-level, community-wide, evidence-based alcohol and opioid prevention program in the Mott Haven neighborhood in the South Bronx.

For youth (9-20 years of age), brief alcohol/substance use screening and counseling will be administered and active linkage to services will be provided where appropriate.

For families, evidence-based programs for alcohol and substance use prevention will be delivered to parents and primary caregivers.

For the community, the first registered Opioid Overdose Prevention Program and substance use resource center will be established to dispense naloxone kits and train community members for overdose response; Community Action Teams on underage drinking and opioid use will be created; and a community-wide alcohol/substance use prevention/reduction social marketing campaign will be launched.

Community-wide impact of the project will be evaluated.
